    Oppression Brought to Light

Although it seems like this story could have been true it is a sad testament to the cruelty of mankind is such oppressive situations. There have always been champions of good in the past, but they are too far and few between and unfortunately, they rarely have the power to prevent such violence as described herein.

This story was probably told with the hope of preventing such events from taking place over and over again. It may have been the author¿s intent to shed light on what oppressive conditions existed in the colonial atmosphere of the day.

The events that take place in the story are sad and depressing; some of the characters are shown in a very negative light, but the writing of the story may have been the only recourse the author had of bringing such atrocities to light for the general public of that era.
