    Anti-Sun Shines with Spiritual Radiance

I got this box set two days after its release date. I walked to Barnes & Noble, which took an hour. That's how bad I wanted this recording package. I had phoned the store and a friendly voice said he'd hold the only copy for me until I got there. This 3 CD and one DVD offering is too beautiful to comprehend. Stand out tracks include all the songs that are new to my ears, and thus, combine to make what is essentially an entire album of newly heard material, as close to a sequel to the marvelous, endlessly refreshing and bouyant Margarine Eclipse masterpiece. I'm delightfully amazed at such astonishing tunes as Fluorescences, Fruition, Long Life Love, Escape Pod, Moodles, and Narco Martenot. Funny that they use the names of old electronic sound generators in song titles (martenot and ondioline). With Friends Like These (opening lyric fragment: "All this violence is puzzling. Maybe the Lord should intervene. All this violence is threatening. Hate is in need of censoring. Ban hate and violence for our convenience." I've always sensed a positive mystical undercurrent to Stereolab music. While I've heard scathing denouncement of religious right wing fanaticism, I suspect that Stereolab is not far from the True Light. Then to see the DVD videos and live performances, this is the ultimate gift to fans. How cool to see the band members all wearing French capes, almost as if they were a nice and non-brainwashing sect. The non-sleazy, intellectual, avant garde nature of this band, with beautiful but modest and non-grandiose women, especially that Latitia Sadier icon...well, excuse me, but I can chat no longer. I've got to get back to listing and watching some mind-gifting music by a truly innovative and metaphysically benevolent band. Buy all the Stereolab you can find. This one would be a good recording package to start with. Heavenly, as usual.
