Jessi Colter rises from the ashes!

Jessi Colter, as you may know, was the soulmate of Waylon Jennings and is the mother of Shooter Jennings. I came to her through her husband, albeit posthumously. Waylon, in his liner notes, kept referring to Jessi with such respect for her as a singer, not just his wife, that I finally ordered this CD. What a surprise and delight! The production and backup band are excellent, and the pacing and variety of songs perfect. Jessi's voice reminds me of Bonnie Raitt crossed with Karen Carpenter - the soul and sass of Bonnie, mixed with the purity and warmth of Karen. I played this CD over and over when I first received it. Highly recommended for fans of alt-country, Americana, singer/songwriter, and just plain old good music.

She sounds like she's passing a kidney stone.

    Complete garbage, just awful.

    Long overdue!

Excellent album from an often overlooked singer-songwriter. This is an album written out of grief and change that will resonate to a large audience.

    Excellent!

This CD is excellent. Words and music are well arranged and the variety of titles appeal to a wide range of audience. We have worn this one out at our house, kids love it...parents love it...grandpa digs it! I recommend this one highly. Jessee is fabulous!
