    Highly Recommend

Each installment in the series just keeps getting better. Michael Connelly has the knack to keep the reader glued to the page. Harry is one person I'd want on my side. Innocent or guilty, Harry wants the truth and you better not get in his way.

    A thriller til the end.

This is another good read by Michael Connelly with my favorite detective, Harry Bosch. The story line took a couple of turns, then still surprised me in the end. The clues were there all along, as a good writer should do. I look forward to the next in the series, as always.

    Great Read!

This is a typically Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch story that does not disappoint. If you like Harry Bosch you are going to love this one! I love harry Bosch and am now reading #17.

    Not his best

I have read all of the Harry Bosch books in order and I must say that I was a bit disappointed in this book. It just didn't hold my interest as much as the rest of Michael Connellly books I have read. I love the Harry Bosch series, but it is beginning to look like Harry is one of those types that likes to hold back information to make himself look better and I am a bit disappointed that my favorite character would be so selfish. However, even though this book was not one of my favorites, I am going to continue to read the Harry Bosch series until I have read them all. I think every writer puts out one or two books that just don't quite measure up to some of their previous books and this may have been one of those for Michael Connelly. Just my 2 cents worth...

    Gripping Read

Really well written, consistently high quality story line AND actual character development!
Set in L.A. Every book in this series covers a different neighborhood. Just great!

    Too Simple

CD unnabridged/Thriller: I thought this reading was abridged because it was only five CDs. However, it is just a really short book. This is my first Connelly book and it was a disappointment. It is really simple, too simple. There is no character development and it seem like Connelly phoned it in to his editor.
The narrator should stay away from audiobooks. I am sure he is a good actor, but he has no upper register. Therefore he cannot do female voices. Everyone but Bosch, his partner and maybe a few others have a raspy voice. The victim's wife, 20-year old male, Rachel, and several others, all have sound like little old men trying to get words out.

A Suspense Filled Mystery, but a bit short.

I enjoyed this novel. Michael Connelly has a unique writing style that is both interesting and satisfying. I thought the number of pages (225) was about 90 pages short which would have improved the development of the characters and plot. The plot is fairly simple and I didn't have a hard time following the clues in each chapter. With more pages the story and the characters would have been flushed out more. Still Mr. Connelly was able to pack everything into this mini novel and it kept me reading page after page.

    Give 'em hell, Harry, again

A friend loaned me Connelly's The Lincoln Lawyer which I enjoyed immensley, and then recommended the Harry Bosch series. I started with #1 and have devoured them like the proverbial bag of national brand of potato chips: nobody can eat/read just one. The plots are generally plausible, and the dialogue equally believable - add to that a character who continues to grow and evolve, and you'll find many hours of pleasurabele reading from an accomplished crime writer.

    Excellent book! Exciting twist!

The Overlook is book number 13 in a series by Michael Connelly. This series is about a detective named Harry Bosch. In this book, harry is investigating the murder of a man who deals with radioactive material. At first it looks like a terrorist group forced him into giving them the radioactive material then they killed him. Throughout the story though there are twists and turns no one saw coming. The FBI cant even figure out what happened. It comes down to harry and his veteran experience in the end to put the pieces together and solve the murder. What i really like about this book was that it kept me guessing throughout the book, i could never figure out what happened before i read it like i usually can in other books. There wasn't really anything i disliked about it. A theme i really got out of the book was "remember the little things". Throughout the book, harry makes new discoveries and connection based on the smallest details and clues, things no one would think to look for or remember. Because Harry does this though, it eventually helps him solve the murder in the end. I think people should read this book because its very exciting and interesting. It felt so real as if i was living it or watching it in a movie. it was very descriptive and i could picture every detail described. I would also recomend to people other books in this series such as "Echo Park" and "The Darkness Darker Than Night". My overal rating for this book would be an 8 out of 10!

    Very entertaining audiobook

We had not had a Harry Bosch series book in a couple of years. When I read the synopsis it sounded good. The plot was very fast moving, a little offbeat, parts were funny and certainly kept our interest. We even missed our entrance ramp and had to turn around. We blamed it on Harry.

    I Also Recommend:

    a reader of many genres

I liked The Overlook but it wasn't nearly as good as The lincoln Lawyer or The Closers or Echo Park, for example. It was more like a long short story which isn't a bad thing. I love how Harry puts it all together. Rewad it; you'll enjoy it. But the other Bosch books I named are better.
