How to make your study of history interesting and exciting

Years ago, I studied history by reading the chapter, answering the questions, and taking a test. I did the same thing week after week. It was so DULL and BORING. Sure, I 'learned' the information and made an A in the class, but I forgot everything once the class was over. Worst of all, I hated history. PAINLESS AMERICAN HISTORY has made the study of history interesting, exciting, even fun for me! Using this book and the online websites, I've read the primary source documents for everything, such as Woodrow Wilson's address, 'Why We are at War,' Sen. Huey Long's 'Every Man a King' speech about his 'Share the Wealth' program, and the Haymarket Affair trial documents and letters telling about the 8 Chicago labor leaders who were charged with anarchy in 1886 and executed {4 of them). This is the way to study history! I can't praise this book enough. Some of the website addresses have changed since publication of the book, but by doing a keyword search, most of the documents can be found. If you want to learn and enjoy history, buy this book! If you want your children or grandchildren to learn and enjoy history, buy it for them and help them use it. This book exposes students to the National Standards for History. Anyone who uses this book should become a history expert and will probably make a high score on the AP History test.
