Excellent book but can't enlarge pictures to see detail.
One of the best technique books that I have ever in my 35 year career. Very enjoyable reading. It was like reading a story book or novel. Very beautiful paintings but the pictures could not be enlarged like in a magazine. A shame since this a technique book and cost more than a magazine. I think that you should be able to see as much detail as the book in print.

Not what I expected, but just what I needed :)
I absolutely LOVE Mary Whyte's work and am so happy to have found this book! At first glance, I thought it was a series of step-by-step demonstrations, but that is not the case. (Before you buy it, take a look at the extensive preview to get a good sense of what this book is and isn't) I am very pleased because I am (unfortunately) a self-taught watercolor artist who always has questions, and Mary's book answered so many of them. She gives a brief history of watercolor, informs the reader of her supply list and how to set up a studio, gives numerous tips and explanations, and more. I also found it very encouraging that Mary talks about paintings that fail, not knowing what to paint, and the time and perseverance it takes to become a better artist. So far, this is the best watercolor book I have purchased :)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
