Megan Blair always heard the voices whisper inside her head that she assumed were her friends although some of the things they told her frightened her. However, they failed to save her mom Sarah from a killer so when she became orphaned following the death of her beloved mother she shut down the voices.================= A dozen years later, someone tries to kill Megan. Although she is not sure why, she believes the culprit killed her mother, who shared the rare skill of the voices with her, but hid the truth that they are both descendants of Pandora from her daughter. This unknown adversary wants Megan and all her blood relatives dead. If murdering her extended family is needed so be it as collateral damage occurs in war. Megan must reactivate the voices if she is to protect her family and herself from a brilliant maniac even if she succeeds in tapping into the voices she muted, Megan knows the probability of failure against her anonymous enemy remains slim.================== Iris Johansen will be on top of the bestsellers lists again with this exciting paranormal thriller that grips the audience from the moment Sarah tells her beloved Megan to run just before dying and never slows down until the final confrontation. The story line is fast-paced and loaded with action although a romantic subplot seems unnecessary. Fans will appreciate Megan as her ┬┐normal┬┐ life as a doctor is destroyed by a maniac whose one reason for living is killing all the potential Pandoras.----= Harriet Klausner

The e-book is hard to read due to the misspellings, words that are hyphenated that shouldn't be and typos on every page (yes - every page). Additionally it's missing punctuation or has alpha characters in place of punctuation. I can't get through this book since it appears to have been typed up by a 5 year old. Its very distracting. Publisher - please fix your typos and provide an update to download.

    Not good

Once again, Iris Johansen took a potentially good story idea and messed it up with bad character development. They seem so lifeless that I kept getting the image of Joe Friday from the old TV series 'Dragnet'. The only way I was able to get through the book was by skimming the last 100 pages.

    Different

The story starts out very well, then it has a tendency to get a little draggy in spots. It is worth reading if you like thrillers. I would not really classify it as a medical though. The main character is a Dr. and if that qualifies as a medical thriller, than I guess it is. I prefer Robin Cook, Tess Gerritson, Michael Palmer. Doctors have a special knack for writing about medicine in novel form. But it was OK

    could have done better

I am a big fan of Iris, but her last two books are just not up to snuff. Her characters start out interesting, then.....nothing.... bad guy does horrible things, then poof dies with ordinarily. Romance part, same as usual with her characters of late, boy likes girl, girl doesn't like it, girl gives in but gives boy hard time, boy gives her a little time off, girl goes back...nothing in between.... if your like me and have to read because it's Iris and you liked her previous books...get it from the library

    Not Up to Standard.....

Having read most of Johansen's works, I found Pandora's Daughter disappointing. The storyline was only okay but the writing seemed very elementary and forced in some places and completely unnatural in other parts throughout the book. I would skip this and read the Eve Duncan or Jane Rizzoli series.

    Why ?

Neal Grady shut down Megan's voices when she was younger, that I understand, but the rest of the book didn't make much sense. Why was she suddenly a threat to people? And Neal, at times treated her with distain. Johanson should stick with what she does best and leave the paranormal to others. Too may questions unanswered.

    disappointed

The beginning started out ok...and after that I lost total interest. I had to make myself finish it. I love every one of her other books, and I'm totally shocked how boring this one was. If you want to read it, I suggest you wait until it's in the library, or borrow someone elses.

    A reviewer

I like all the author's books except this one. It was sometimes choppy, repetitive, and the story difficult to believe.

    Disappointing

Long and convuluted and boring. I have always been a great fan of anything Ms Johansen has written, but this time its a resounding NO. Stick to what you do best mystery and love scenes with excitement
