    more from this reviewer

This is a must read for anyone with children aged 10 and up.

This book helped me immensely in communicating effectively and joyously with my pre-teen and teen children. We don't want to control our children (we won't be there forever to do this). We want to guide our children so they will make safe and successful decisions. We want then to be happy and we hope to continue to have a relationship with them as they enter adulthood and independence. This book has been crucial in helping me to realize the mistakes I have been making and I see such positive results with the simple changes in my approach!

    wonderful advice !

I had found it difficult to find a book that cares about building a true, long lasting relationship with your teen until I found this. I first heard Kirshenbaum and Foster on a news special that so impressed me that I looked for anything they had published. As a counselor working with teens in al/drug recovery, I knew that most common strategies in American homes for reaching our teens did not work...ever! This is a way to support your teen and help them move into taking true responsibility for their lives. An wonderful book.
