This was an interesting read – both from the viewpoint of a new sub learning the ‘game’ and the deeply defined connections and friendship between the Brigade Masters.  Cara Carnes has managed to convey steaming-hot erotica with a solid story-line that allows readers to connect to the characters in a way not often found in short erotic stories.

As Katey is slowly introduced to the expectations required of a submissive, her affections and attraction to Lorenzo are apparent to all: as is his to her.  Not used to feeling jealousy or possessiveness toward any of the submissives he has played with at The Brigade, Lorenzo is driven to distraction by the effect Katey has on his emotions.

What is most striking about this story is the emotional component: the concern and caring that the men demonstrate toward Katey and their other subs, and the obvious watchfulness they have for their safety and self-esteem.  I did not expect to see submissiveness expressed in a manner that showed the true core of strength needed to completely put trust in another’s hands, nor the pleasure and pride the doms display when that trust is given.  This is a whole new viewpoint of the dom/sub dynamic, and while the storyline teems with erotic scenes and imagery, the change was refreshing to read.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
