High school level writing on a challenging subject
I wish I could give this more stars, but I have to call it as I see it. While the book covers an interesting and timely topic, and also has some important information, as a novel it is very lacking. The language, prose, and flow are extremely juvenile, and make for jerky reading. Characters are simple and undeveloped. It¿s difficult to grow attached to anyone in the story, or feel any real emotion over events. Nearly every description interrupts the flow of the story, sounding more like cut-and-paste from a technical manual than a narrative. There are some great technical details, but they can be written into the story without sounding like a commercial break. I don¿t like to give bad reviews, but when I spend eighteen plus dollars, I expect more. As an informative text, the book does succeed on some levels, but as a novel, it fails miserably. There are enough sources out there to help with writing that this should not happen.
