There is nothing pearly about this book!
Once again, Jacques wastes another fine cast of villains and intrigue. In fact, this book had the potential to be the best of the collection of Redwall books, but Jacques blew it. He didn't learn from Mariel of Redwall, he just repeated it. He gave us a bunch of cool villains and characters, like Mad Eyes and his monitor lizards, which was a fine touch, but he did nothing with them! These were such great villains, and they had no point to the book. And what's worse than having a bunch of villains, with no point to the plot? Having a bunch of villains, who have no point, fighting each other! Not to mention that this story had no central hero! Mad Eyes had no conflict with any of the good guys and his character went to waste. And so does the plot, as you will discover, in the end. This a story that had the potential to become a great epic, but alas, it fumbled the ball. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
