A Good Read
Typical of the Arcane series, with a good mix of drama, romance and suspense. Not as gripping as some of the others in the series, however, but helpful in producing a larger picture of the Arcane society in general. Enjoyable to read.

Great Read
I loved the banter between Lucinda and Caleb. From the start what seemed like oil and water was really the bond at work. Lucy is so strong willed yet kind, intelligent and a botanical talent. Caleb is steadfast, determined yet gentle in his own way, and is a conspiracy talent. The job she hires him for soon turns out to be tied to a rather large case he's been working on for the newly formed agency - later to be known by a much more famous name. I was tickled to find out the origins of J&J. Romance, humor, action, murder, drama, an organization within another, shocking twists, this was a real page turner. I also got a kick out of the supporting characters, mainly her cousin and Caleb's new hire.

As usual, Quick aka Krentz aka Castle, knocks it out of the park. Another great addition to the Arcane Series. -

The Perfect Poison
I couldn't wait to read "The Perfect Poison." This novel is about Caleb Jones, whose character Quick has been building up to in all the previous stories. Caleb and Lucinda just light up the pages with their banter and you can feel the connection between them from their first scene together (which ends in an unexpected kiss). Caleb is a troubled man in many ways and Lucinda always finds a way to bring him ease -- whether it's making sure he eats properly or helping him solve a problem that has haunted him for years. They make a fabulous team and I love the way that Caleb accepts her as an equal in their investigations. He's a very modern Victoran male, in that sense. This is a fun, engaging story with the perfect blend of mystery and romance. Loved it.

Good but not great
I love Amanda Quick but this so far was my least favorite. The Paid Companion being my favorite. It is an easy read and the story/drama starts right away. The characters are typical of Amanda Quick books, so if you have read anything by her before....you should enjoy it!

WOW SHE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!
I just love Amanda Quick, and her other pen names. She knows how to keep a reader interested. It is so hard to put down once you start reading. You can picture the characters and even better you can picture their reaction to the other characters that they encounter. I love the other books in this series and cant wait to see more. I am also starting to read her other series. I know they will be just as exciting.

What thoughts the book triggered in me
If one believes in the existence of paranormal skills and strengths then this books is pretty interesting, with a touch of murder mystery and romance. I think this book is a good story line for a movie. A strong and independent woman, who has psychic abilities to discover and sense the power in each plant, was also notorious for identifying poisons.

Somethings that triggered a chain of thoughts .
When I read this book, I started to understand how Edward Bach (Father of Batch Remedies) discovered flower medicines. Each plant has it own aura of strengths. Some people have the ability to distinguish as to which plant has healing powers. In essence, one is able to experience the effect of the plants just by inhaling the scent and feel the healing or ill effect of the plant.
Another quite thought provoking event in the story is the matching making process in marriage .
Compromises made in marriages! One may be looking for the perfect person. It so happens that one goes about searching for a person with some qualities but not always one can find all aspects in one person. The most important thing is how well two individuals enhance and nurture each other; the rest will fall in place. -
The Perfect ...
This book is great for the genre. It is a bit predictable, but the characters are great and the plot was interesting. I read it one day, and loved every page.

The Perfect Poison by Amanda Quick
The Perfect Poison, sixth in the Arcane Series by Amanda Quick, is a Victorian Era mystery whose heroine's talent for detecting poisons has her life always one step away from ruin or suspicion. Lucinda Bromley is another of Amanda Quick's unusual women who are more than a match for the members of the Arcane Society. The mystery that starts with the theft of a rare plant and takes the reader on a botanical adventure keeps you guessing right up to the end.

Arcane Doings
I love this series -- both the historical and contemporary episodes. One day, I plan to put all the books in chronological order and re-read them from beginning to end. The research Ms. Quick puts into her paranormal "sensibilities" is terrific, and her characters are always 3-dimensional people. She must have read Mark Twain's essay on what constitutes good writing!

Not disappointed with this page turner!
Amanda Quick does it again! I can hardly wait for the next installment of the Arcane Society. Not only does she keep the mystery going, but the romance is always there too.

GIve me more of the Arcane Society
These strong characters were long awaited. We, finally, meet the heads of the modern organization and it was thrilling ... And selecting a name for it was tricky. ha ha ha

My reveiw
I really enjoyed this book...I love the Arcane Society series.( I can't wait for the next.) This book made me think of what could happen and why, but balanced with humor and of course romance. I also love the way that Krentz maintains the timeline and uses previous characters that I love the frist time and hopefully meeting some new ones for the frist time.

Another winner
I loved this book. The whole Arcane series is very entertaining without being too graphic as some I have read lately. The feisty heroine and the rather stoic hero make a perfect match. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
