Useful guide to persuading customers and audiences
Persuasion is a well-covered topic in the business press, but author Dave Lakhani comes at it from a different perspective. His mother was part of a strict religious cult and until he was 16, Lakhani also was a member. He left voluntarily and decided to find out what persuasive techniques had drawn his mother into the group, and what eventually allowed her ¿ albeit reluctantly ¿ to leave its grip. Lakhani approaches persuasion from the perspective of cultists and serial manipulators, and acknowledges its potential misuse. He presents fresh insights and recommendations for its more ethical applications. getAbstract finds this book convincing, tightly written and packed with valuable techniques. Was this review helpful? Better than expected!
I have read 100+ sales books over the years, and find that many of them share similar concepts, with a slight twist, about the 'art of sales', and this book brought refreshing ideas and a strong methodology surrounding persuasion. It also gives excellent examples and lessons on how to incorporate it into one's life. The one thing I am also impressed with is that it reads more like a story, with great mental images, which makes it a much more enjoyable book to read. I highly recommend this book for anyone at any level in their career who wants to 'get what they want'.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
