Highly recommended - great book!
I bought 2 copies of this book - one for each grandson. They're both 3 and enjoyed the book tremendously. By the third straight read-through (that would be 6 times for grandma!) they each knew the book well. We also downloaded the free song to go with it. In addition, each one's older siblings were soon reading the bookand singing the song with them!

Pete really rocks!!!
I bought this book after discovering Pete the Cat this summer. I have two boys that LOVE these books. I also teach first grade and my class is hooked on Pete. They have been singing and retelling the stories for days! Pete is so upbeat and fun that you can't help but have fun and smile with the kids. Plus Pete teaches the lesson that no matter what happens, don't give up and to keep going. He helps the kids understand that attitude is very important especially when things go wrong. This book is a must have for any teacher of young children.

Wonderful interactive story!
My PreK class loved Pete's first book and I am so excited to begin my school year with Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes. Children have the opportunity to interact with the text from the beginning as we learn about Pete's day at school and sing his catchy song together. Each section describes a location in the school building and asks the reader "Where is Pete?" .....perfect for a followup discussion after our school tour. There is a free download at the publisher's site for a copy of Mr. Eric reading and singing the story (my class has always preferred to hear Mr. Eric read). Pete is perfect for young emergent readers, as they quickly learn the repetition and are "reading" it in no time by themselves. Wonderful book!!!

Huge Hit with Kinders!
I bought this book for our school library and our kindergarten teachers shared it with their students. They LOVED it! The students went home singing the downloadable tune. The parents even commented on how much their children loved this book. It's a very good introduction to school.

I'm not sure what makes Pete the Cat cooler: His fearlessness (Goodness, no!), his singing, or his red hightop Chucks, or maybe a combination of all three. My little boy first heard a Pete the Cat story at a library story time. He loved it then, so I ordered him copies of a couple of the books, and he loves them now.

Eric Litwin is a singer/performer of children's music. That very specialized skill leads to books that are fun to read AND sing, for me and for my four-year-old son. In Pete the Cat, Rocking My School Shoes, Pete attends his first day of school, something that is entirely new to him and potentially scary. But does Pete worry? Goodness, no! And yes, Pete ROCKS his school shoes.
James Dean's illustrations could not be cooler -- red hightop Chucks on a black cat! James Dean has a witty sense of fun which pervades every page of this delightful book. -
Highly Recommend
We love all the Pete the Cat books! I had never heard of them until they were introduced to my son's preschool class by one of the teachers. Now we own them all except for the Christmas one (we'll buy that one later on). Great story/morals and the illustrations are pretty cute!
