Recipes to edit digital images without learning Photoshop
If you do not know Photoshop and want to manipulate digital photographs, then this book is for you. It provides step by step guides to do a variety of operations, from basic every day tasks (e.g. red eye removal), to more complex effects (e.g. creating panoramas). However, coupled with the absense of more advanced techniques, and assuming little prior experience, this is a book for beginners. Each recipe is well writen, self-contained and only assums a basic knowledge of the Photoshop layout. Thus, anyone can start any where in the book. Personally, this is exactly what I want, as I am a amateur phototographer who enjoys taking the pictures more than editing them. This book is great if you already have Photoshop but do not know how to use it. If you want to edit digital images, and do not have software, then Adobe Elements and Jasc Paint Shop Pro are much cheaper. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Useful for entry level Photoshop processing only
This book could be very useful for beginner amateur digital photographers not having enough experience with Photoshop. It is mainly focused on relatively simple photo corrections (cropping, color adjustments, removing blemishes, etc.), but doesn't address higher level artistic techniques. If you are using a digital camera for vacation or family pictures, this manual will let you make your photos look more natural, but if you are into serious digital photography and would like to learn those neat techniques that always aspired you, look elsewhere. For example, try the 'The Photoshop 7 Wow! Book', or similar publications, which will give you in-depth coverage of those techniques. This book uses 'step-by-step' approach, which is helpful for the beginners, but can get very irritating for those who have some experience already. Nevertheless, for what it is intended for, the book is quite good. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
