I thought the premise of this book was fascinating, and it has its moments, but overall it was disappointing. I tried to get into it but it was very difficult for me. None of the characters were particularly likable, and a lot of the dialogue was cheesy and unrealistic (Like when 17 year old Kerry says, 'I'm sorry, Eve. I was a selfish jerk.') Justin was inexplicably portrayed as some sort of prize. I never did understand WHY the girls were so in love with him. The author relies too heavily on just telling us things (Kerry, Eve, and Justin have a deep bond. Justin is amazing. etc, etc,) rather than letting us figure it out on our own through the characters' behavior and actions. Kerry and Eve's relationship also left a lot to be desired. I never got the impression that they had that 'twin bond' despite the author telling us several times that they did. By the time all the twists start occuring, the story had become messy and overly complicated, as well as so unrealistic I felt like I was reading the transcript of a cheap soap opera. The whole time I was reading the book, I felt like I was reading a summary or paraphrased version of it instead of really being involved in it. It felt like whole pieces of the story were missing, and I kept going back to see if I'd missed something. I decided to give it a second chance and am currently re-reading it, but my opinion hasn't really improved.

    An entertaining read!

What would you do if your twin sister was trying to steal your boyfriend? This is a question Kerry Barnard had to ask herself day in day out.Despite the close bond the sisters had growing up,tragady hits home and slowly but surely pulls them apart.Dealing with loss effected the twin sisters differently.Kerry learns to cope and Eve becomes a differnt person.I think this book will make you love one character and hate the other. In the end of the book when eve gets cancer,I try to feel bad for her but i just cant.I absolutly loved this book!I could compare it to reading a soap opera.Once i started reading it,i could not put it down. The theme of this book is love, hate and betrayal.I think you would most enjoey this book if you are between the ages of 13-25.The author did a great job of conveying the purpose of the story!

    A reviewer

I absolutely adored this novel! Not only was it a page turner (I actually called in sick so I could finish it...), it was also extremely emotionally intense. This book is so realistic and believable and wise, wonderful from beginning to end. This type of story could have easily become a cliche but Ms. Arnold writes with such authenticity that everything is very fresh and believable. There are many touching, quiet moments throughout, but there's also a great deal of suspense and mystery. I really missed the characters when I finished, found myself wondering how they were doing, and I'm sure they'll stay in my mind for a long time.

    Do Not Miss This Book...

An absolutely stunning first novel. Ms. Arnold is certainly an author to watch. I laughed and cried at almost every page, and couldn't put this book down. The novel speaks to the heart of sisterhood and forgiveness, beautifully written and an absolute page turner. A real bargain for a book that is destined to become a classic.

    Bookworm Mom

Bought this book I guess last month and just set it aside, needed to know thier was a new book in my house. Been busy as moved to a new country in July so did not touch the book. It took a bad dose of the flu to have me rest and pick up the book found it hard to put down, related to the sisters so much as I have five. Young love brings back memories. Lost a parent in my teens too. Looking forward to the next book. Very happy for this new author good luck with future books.

    Couldn't put it down...

I got an Advance Reader's Copy at the Book Expo 'BEA', after a recommendation from another bookstore owner. (Many people were talking about the novel at BEA.) I read this on the plane home and all night after I got back. A real page-turner, beautifully written and engrossing, with richly drawn characters. It's my favorite thing 'discovering' debut authors that I love. A truly great read.
