    Alright book

Interesting. A bit unbelievable but maybe expected too much since it was an Oprah bookclub book.

    Interesting quick read

Once I started reading this book, I couldn't stop. The writing was good and the story kept me interested, but it also infuriated me at the same time.

    Loved this book!

This book got me hooked from the first page. It is the kind of book that you don't want to put down. The story is very emotional and dramatic, really pulling you in to the story. I have a tendency to guess the endings of books before they happen, but this one actually surprised me! I highly recommend it.

    Good Idea!

I like others thought this was a good idea but I also found it very predictable. They definitely could have added drama. I was waiting for it but it never really came. I found the characters pretty dull and lacking personality. Its a shame because this could have been a good book.

    Really enjoyed this book.

I may forgive Oprah yet. This book was completely intriguing. It was truly one of few books that I actually got lost in. I was 75 pages in before I thought to look at the page numbers. I kept telling myself that I would put it down, but wound up reading the whole thing in one sitting. The book opens with Kathryn being told that her pilot husband has died. An investigation ensues, and Kathryn realizes that maybe she didn't really know her husband at all. The story develops naturally, with the chapters geniusly seperated by intriguing developments. I'm actually mailing this book to my mother tomorrow. If you feel like enjoying a riveting story, read this book.

    The Pilot's Wife

This is the first Anita Shreve book I've read. It was a good book, a short easy read, but still a good story. About a Pilot's wife, Kathryn, whose husband, Jack, dies in a plane accident. After the crash there are numerous questions to be answered and Kathyrn finds out the man she had been married to for over a decade might of been a complete stranger to her after all. The book is interesting, however It wasn't the most thrilling book I've ever read but there were several twists I never saw coming. The plot was defiantly good enough to keep me reading at a good pace! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light and short fiction!

    Good for book clubs

My book club just read this book, it lead to good conversation topics. But the characters didn't 'tug at you heart strings' as they should have. but the story was good.

    Twists and Turns

I kept reading this book until the weeeee hours of the morning. I would say just one more chapter or a couple more pages but then a new twist would enter and I would have to see how it played out. By the time the last couple of chapters were presented I was hooked and stayed up until 5AM to finish the book! Good writing!

    The Pilot's Wife

When I first picked this book up, I didn't think I'd like it. It seemed like it would be a little bit too depressing for me. Once I started reading it, however, I couldn't put it down! I read the whole thing in one weekend, and I loved it. Somehow it turns an unbelievable situation into something that you think entirely possible. I highly recommend it.

    Pilot's Wife

Very short and sweet. This is definitely a book you won't want to put down. The author does a tremendous job on the details to really draw you in and have a clear picture in your mind throughout the entire book. It is sad, and quite shocking at first but the story takes you away and really makes you think about the true meaning of life. It makes you wonder about people, and compels you to take a second look at people to see if what you are seeing is really them. I would read it a hundred times.

Boring - Not what I have come to expect from Shreve

The Pilots wife begins with a very intriguing premise, how well do you know the man you married? It promises a great mystery will be unraveled. The book starts with a bang and ends with a whimper. I felt like Shreve was getting bored with her own story and did a mundane job of wrapping up the details just to get it over with. It certainly did not have the shocking suprise ending that the reader has been set up to expect.

Thought it took too long for the 'revelations' to start. The premise was a good one, but maybe more could've been done with it. Jack was a jerk!

Book lacked any sort of substance towards the end

Shreve¿s book began well, but as I began reading further and further into the book I became disappointed. The beginning was full of substance, but the end lacked any sort of such thing. By novel¿s end I was left bored, and uninterested. While Shreve started off very descriptive from the crash to the memories of Jack she recapped, I felt her discovery into finding Jack¿s other wife and family less descriptive. I also felt she may have inserted too many memories. Perhaps instead of inserting so many old memories of Jack, Shreve should have concentrated more on the feelings and emotions of Kathryn and Mattie. Needless to say I felt much more emotional and in contact with the character¿s at the novel¿s beginning than I did by novels end. In the end I was merely left with a book in my hand and nothing more.
