One of the best children's books ever!
Precious story, wonderful pictures and great vocabulary - what more could you ask for in a book?

Sweet and gentle story
My children and I adore this book, and I love how the little girl learns to be gentle. The illustrations are sweet and old-fashioned, and the story is clever and rewarding. This is a classic book that I will keep for my own children and hope to read to my future grandchildren. If only there were more like it....

Such A Great Book!...
I remember reading this book over and over as a child, delighting in the beautiful pictures and simple story line. I teach in a class of 3-5 year olds, and am buying a copy of this book right now for my classroom! I am sure the children will love it. I especially like the pictures in the book. It is nice for children to see examples of beautiful artwork not done on a computer for a change.

Teach your child to be a nature lover
This book is simple and charming, with illustrations reminiscent of the 1950s. It's a great story if you want to teach a young child to observe and appreciate nature quietly. My 3-year-old daughter learned a lot about how to watch animals quietly without scaring them off from this book, which we first borrowed from the library. I was so charmed by it I quickly bought our own copy to keep.
