My Dragonborn son gives it two thumbs way up!

I bought this handbook for my 13 year old son for Christmas. He and two of his friends, plus a dad, have recently gotten into D&D 4th ed. He is stoked with the book. To Quote, "This is great, I can do all sorts of stuff that they are going to have no idea that I can do. I can even avoid opportunity attacks..."

He also enjoyed the fluff, and with it is discovering a new aspect to gaming...the role play part. With the background provided he is starting to mold his character into something much more than numbers to be rolled. As it comes to life in his hands his excitement gets deeper.

As older gamers (2nd ed through 3.5 myself, 1st ed through 3.5 for his dad) my husband and I are thrilled to see him get attached to his character, after all we all have one or two that we still like to dust off and remember or talk about with our friends who were there.

In all he is happy with it, so that makes it a good purchase.

    Player's Handbook Races: Dragonborn

If you play a dragonborn character and would like some ideas to flush out your character then this book is for you. If you are a Dungeon Master and want to reward those brave players who chose Dragonborn as their race, then this book is for you. If you know a player who plays a dragonborn and you are looking for that unique gift, then this book is for you. The artwork is inspiring. Make your Dragonborn character as individual as you. Chose paragon paths, feats, and powers that reflect your characters style and culture. Thirty two pages of dragonborn goodness awaits. It's well worth the price at under ten dollars. You can not go wrong with this one.

a bit too expensive for the content

Sitting at about 50/50 flavor/mechanics, this book is something you could probably pass on unless you are a huge fan of of the Dragonborn race. The feats are okay, many of them augment the Dragon Breath racial ability, so if you like using that a lot there's plenty of options for it. The four Paragon paths are not the greatest, either. Magic items are alright; again, nothing to get in a froth over but not horrible either. If you subscribe to DDI I'd say it's definitely a pass; if not, flip through it thoroughly before you pick it up, as it isn't for everyone.
