A reviewer
I read it from start to finish non-stop. Great character development. Please don't judge this book by the movie. Read all of this authors books they are worth it. Most rate four to five stars.

Heart pounding suspense
This remains one of my favorite books of all time. Bob Lee Swagger is the ultimate hero, beyond cool, and the plot is a real page turner. This book made me write a letter of praise to the author, something I had never been moved to do before.

A Heart Thumper
I picked up this book when it first hit paperback in the 90's on the recommendation of an older lady at my local book store. Phenomenal read and one of my favorites ever. Proof this is not simply a macho story. I don't normally read a story more than once, but I have read this one three times and recommend it to every reader I know.

Gripping and Intense.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down! Hunter's writing style was captivating and his description of small arms weaponry was spot-on! Loved it.

Now to watch movie!
Throughly enjoyed this book! A couple of folks mentioned the movie "Shooter" as a pretty good movie to watch and once I realized it was based off this book I decided to read this first! Was not disappointed at all! Very quick and entertaining read! At times the dialogue got a bit redundant and cheesy but overall a page turner. My only gripe is that B&N has all the Bob Lee Swagger books in ebook format except books 2 & 3 which is crazy. Why start a series and then jump from book 1 to book 4??? I'd like to continue the series so I'll wait to see if they release them later on. Had to add this edit of my original review: DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE!!! IT KILLS THE STORY!!! READ THE BOOK AND LEAVE IT AT THAT!!!

A lot more than an ordinary thriller
What could be a familiar tale of revenge and a crusade for the truth is spun into so much more. There is a chapter where our hero (Bob the Nailer) confronts the basis of the entire assassination plot, and shows why he is what he is (one of the best in the world behind a rifle), and taughtly written courtroom scene, some light romance, office politics, and even some history all thrown in.
My favorite quote; "my men have your boyfriend on top of a hill and are going to kill him." The reply; "you don't get it do you? he loves hills if he is on the top of that hill that is where WANTS to be!"

A great start to a great series
This is one of my favorite books, and then they had to butcher it in movie form.

Exciting Movie
This is an extremely fast paced action movie where the good guy is taken advantage of but wins in the end.

So much better than the movie. READ IT.
The movie though passingly entertaining... is very much overshadowed by this novel. The shooting was well researched and the characters very well developed.

Better than the movie
As I'm always looking for new series, I figured I'd give this one a try. It's right down my alley. After starting the book, I realized that it was the same book that the movie, "Shooter," was based on. As I'd already seen the movie, I was hesitant to continue. I am so glad that I did. The book, as is usually the case, far outshines the movie. The character development is absolutely splendid, each and every character in the book evolves on their own and could really stand alone. The plot-line is similar enough to the movie that I'm not always surprised about the twists, but there are still plenty of surprises in store. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller, adventure, action novel. Whether or not you've seen the movie, the book still won't fail to impress. (Also, I loved the movie).

Superb read that you won't want to put down
If you like mysteries, military thrillers, and espionage action, this is the book for you. From the first page to the last, Stephen Hunter tells a riveting story of a historic framing and the wrath of a scorned patriot trying to clear his name. It's a page burner that I couldn't put it down. IF you thought the movie "Shooter" was good, this book will blow you away. It's 10 times better than the movie (which is always the case).

This Book is Amazing!!!
I just finished reading this book and was completely blown away! I had seen Shooter before and was sceptical if the book could live up to the movie cause i love Mark Walburg and he made Shooter just sublime. However, when I started the book and really started to get into it; I couldn't put it down. Some nights i found myself staying up all night trying to finish, just one more chapter. This book is an amazing action-packed thriller and will keep you guessing til the bitter end; cheering for Bob the entire time! All I gotta say is, this book is the bomb!!

Great
I cant honestly say that I have read the book 5 times and still love it like a lot of people do. Now, Point of Impact is an amazing work of art, especially in the range of weapons. Stephen Hunter grants us with the amazing character of Bob Lee Swagger. The nicest mean guy I have ever heard about. Right from the beginning of the novel, we get plenty of insights on Bob. Mainly his life while in the war and about his thoughts on weapons and everything. When I first began reading, I couldnt put it down. Theres not too much action here, but when its there, its there. The characters and details in everything are unbelievably great. A real page turner. If you enjoyed the book, check out the movie, Shooter. Also great!

WOW!!!!
If you've ever heard the term 'page-turner' but have yet to experience it, this is the book to read. Beautifuly written and with a wealth of real life info that will blow your mind away. Without a doubt the best sniper book I've laid my hands on. Great job Mr. Stephen Hunter can't wait till # 2 in the Bob the Nailer saga continues
