Great Book
I've always enjoyed the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. This was no exception. Highly recommend. And love it more reading it on my Nook Color.

Whew!
This is a very graphic book and will leave you wondering about the twist and events that take place in this book. The character's are great and I love the forensic investigation's. I didn't like the sadness of Benton's death and the pain that Scarpetta went through. Being unhappy with the ending does not take away from this novel at all, keep them coming Patricia!!!!

Once Again, Doesn't Disappoint!
I was recently introduced to KS via 'Book of the Dead' and since then I have been on my own hunt for her previous sagas. I came across this one and true to form, this one is as much an amazing, enthralling read as the others I've been able to get my hands on. This one is graphic and will leave you absolutely dumbfounded and saddened by a particular, unexpected twist of events...the best part about the way Cornwell's stories are written is that you are completely engulfed, first person, in this life of a woman who, by all accounts and previous books, should've thrown in the ME badge a very long time ago. This story will prove to be the test if KS can continue on emotionally and physically - or if you can continue on without being just as drained!

Fantastic
First review I have ever written. Literally just put this book down, had to tell someone how fantastic this book was, I enjoyed every minute. Cant help but think there is more to come from the 'baddie'. Already brought the next 2 books so will be starting Black Notice tonight.

AMAZING BOOK!
After I read 'The Body Farm' I hastily jumped at my next chance to read a Scarpetta novel. 'Point of Origin' was incredible. Even chapters filled with just talking were as suspensful as full fledged action scenes. This has to be Cornwell at her best.

Outstanding!
I loved this book from start to finish, everything was well written and flew by. The book had twists and turns even though it was foreshadowing. I'm reading the Scarpetta novels backwards as I started with 'Blow Fly' fist-now I'm here, so far 'Point of Origin' is the best! Superb:)

Classic..
One of my favorite Scarpettas. This novel is rife with compelling characters, chilling situations, colorful, real-life detail, and of course, incredibly rich forensic investigation. We're thrown a curve ball midway through the book of incredibly tragic proportions, and the fact that Kay presses on, determined to solve the case of the Warrenton arson is a true testament to her professionalism. She is an amazing heroine. Patricia Cornwell once again delivers in this excellent offering. By the way, I absolutely LOVE how loose ends from UNNATURAL EXPOSURE were tied up in this novel. Soo well done.

Two Thumbs up for Point of Origin
In Patricia Cornwell's thrilling murder mystery, a fast paced plot is intermixed with the dangerous element of fire. Her characters add to the plot and definitely create an aura of danger. Halfway through the book, she throws in a twist that no one would ever expect. Each different murder builds the tensions as Dr. Kay Scarpetta dangerously reaches the identity and whereabouts of the serial killer. This book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat til you put it down.

Fabulous!
I really really enjoyed this book. I think that this is one of her better books. I read almost all of her books and this one kind of brought everything together. Cornwell deserves and A+ for her Scarpetta series. I love it and I can't wait for another one to come out.

Horrible in all the wrong ways
My second Cornwell novel. I'd forgotten how much I hated the first one. She is a truly terrible writer - regular lapses into illiteracy, unconvincing, cliche-ridden characterisation, a prurient fascination with the macabre details of post-mortem examinations, an eye for irrelevant detail, red herrings that confuse and frustrate (what's with that "fireproof colt"?) and an incredibly anti-climactic conclusion. Apart from that..it was fine.

Ok - but not as good as past books
I agree with several of the reviews that this was a good and entertaining book. However the ending wasn't as suspensful as her past novels. Way too quick and easy!!

Another compelling read!
A good story, but a weak ending. Are Carrie and company really gone, or will they miraculously reappear in a subsequent book? One thing about the Scarpetta series: you really need to read the books in order. My first one - The Last Precinct - got me hooked, but as I went through the others, confusion! Benton's dead, then he's alive, Lucy's 28, then she's 16, and Marino's changes in rank go backwards. Still, I'm looking forward to the next one. Maybe I'll re-read them in the right order.....

Carrie's Obsession
This is the first Cornwell book I have read and at first I thought it might be 'just another pathologist/coroner book'........but I was pleasantly surprised at the character development etc. What I found a little annoying was the depth that Cornwell goes to to explain EVERY aspect of fire and forensic procedure. Finally, the finale for Carrie and her grisly boyfriend was not quite what I had expected. It was somehow just too easy. Cornwell does has a flair for describing a particularly chilly character doesn't she?

The Verdict is in!
Wow. I was totally stunned and heartbroken at the end of this book. I had the severe folly of reading Black Notice as my first, then went to The Body Farm, and read them in order after that. I knew Benton had died, but I didn't know Benton. Eventually, I started rembling on to the point where my friends could not handle my rants and in their own words, they told me to be quiet, immediately. I got the book from a library on a Sunday and finished it on that day. I brought it to school on Monday just to quote it and the end, which I found beautiful. All of the books were just stunning and the fact that an 11 year old enjoyed these novels was too unbelievable for many a teacher to comprehend. They would indeed feel differently If they read these books!

WAS DISAPPOINTED!
Have read all of Patricia Cornwell books up to this one. I think the earlier books were better. This one starts off with Dr. Scarpetta and Benton Wesley haveing their ususl on again, off again love affairs. She then gets a call that there has been a fire and a possible body in the fire. She and Capt. Pete Marino are to go. I have come to like Marion more that Scarpetta. Her neice, the one than knows how to do everything, is now the pilot of the Bell Long-Ranger helicopter that picks them up. A little to much for me. There is another fire, another body. Then they find out that a long ago enemy, Carrie Grethen has escaped from a prison mental institute. The ending is to quick and not sure enough, leaving it all open for the same thing to happen again. I feel the description of what goes in the morgue is to long and to much detail, if I wanted this much I would read a medical book. I guess I am just sad because I have really liked her books in the past.
