Breathtakingly Incredible!

Wow. I've been a fan of photos from National Geographic Society for years, but this is, by far, the most impressive collection, that I will look at over and over again. I'm buying another copy for my father, for his 75th birthday. Well done, Mr. Nicklen, well done - and thank you for taking me on a once-in-a-lifetime journey!

Awe inspiring

Several weeks ago I found a youtube video of Nicklen talking about his encounter with a leopard seal and had to find out more. After watching more videos and also viewing the pictures on his website I decided to buy this book as a gift for my husband, who loves the ocean and her inhabitants. He was impressed, but what impressed me more are the stories Nicklen tells of the troubles he went though to get each of these series of photos and of the dangers involved. What stuck me more though is how much he cares for these fragile environments and how important it is for us to start saving this environments NOW!

What a view of animal life from below the surfce of ice.

A truly beautiful book full of stunning photography!

The photographs by the author of this book are stunning and visually compelling in light of fragility of the environment in the polar climes. The narrative accompanying the images is fascinating and insightful - a great read as well as a great picture book!
