A courageous tale of football, friendship, and determination; MUST READ!

Marcus Jordan is a young quarterback who has just moved to Kennesaw, Ohio, a small town in which the local varsity football team went undefeated the previous year. Needless to say, his presence was not celebrated. The David Nathan Aldrich Raiders had a very solid group the year before and only four seniors left due to graduation. On arrival, he was heckled by the quarterback and after all of that chaos, he barely was able to try out for the team. He played well but the quarterback led a mutiny against him so all the receivers dropped his passes. One of the only negatives to Marcus was his toughness, but all that changed after he met Charlie Popovich. The retired NFL linebacker and Marcus played together for hours on end and Marcus developed into a contact-hungry animal. After making varsity, moving to offense, and learning of Charlie's terrible condition, Marcus is faced with a very tough decision. Will he play in the pivotal football game, or help Charlie in a crucial time of need?

I enjoyed the unpredictable and twisting plot. You can never guess how the football games would come out or what Charlie was going to do next. The ending was also very climatic, and sad. The humor and shenanigans the characters pulled also spiced up the story.

I recommend this book to any realistic fiction readers, sports readers, and people who are friends with someone who is mentally ill. The book has enough friendship, sports, and bravery for anyone to appreciate.

Pop is about this boy named marcus. he is new to the town and doesnt know anyone. Marcus loves to play football. loves. and was the starting QB for the JV team last year at his old high school. The first few days in the town are quiet, then finally he finds this older man in a park called, three alarm park. This man doesn't care to talk with marcus, for instance, he calls him "Mac". This man named, Charlie, also seems to have a passion for the game of football. He agrees to meet marcus at the park everyday after his school football practice to play with him.
The last years football team went 11 and 0 and even won a championship and expected to do it again this year. So when marcus came to the tryouts, the team was surprised. The captain of the team, and the biggest jerk of the team, was the Quarterback. Troy Popovich.
But back to the unknown charlie character. Marcus did some reasearch and found out that charlie was Troy's Dad! He was a former NFL Player also, and troy and his sister charlie did not want anyone talking to him. Charlie and marcus are together a lot! which really makes troy mad. Eventually Marcus finds out Charlie has a mental disabillity. Then, Marcus is faced with a serious decision, will he play football and possibly go to a championship game, or help Charlie in a time of need.?
I thought this was a super great book, and i don't think you need to be a football fan to read it. it may help and some parts may make more sense. but you dont have to. its a quick read and awesome!
