This friendship led to a feature she wrote on “papa”. She spent a few days following Hemmingway in New York and chronicled a caricature of how he was at that point in his life. According to the Ross, he liked it but the readers of The New Yorker were critical.
This book Portrait of Hemingway by Lillian Ross is a reprint of the articles and also contains her thoughts.
This concise book gives a good glimpse of what it was like to simply hand out with “papa” for a few days. Hemingway was a regular guy who happens to be a great writer with an adventurous spirit.
