Not sure where all the negative comments are coming from about this product. You CAN buy just the charging cable if you want. Its available right there in the B&N store. Also, I have nothing by POSITIVE things to say about the B&N Chat customer service I receive...

Also, I have nothing by POSITIVE things to say about the B&N Chat customer service I received. My Nook HD charger was making a loud squealing noise when it was plugged in. I chatted with the representative, she asked for my serial number, and sent a replacement right away. No issues. Couldn’t be happier with the process all around!

I love my Nook and here is what you get with the customer service. NOTHING> They have the worst customer service on the planet. Barnes and Nobles knows they have a problem with the Nook color charger. It bends and breaks. They have had thousands of complaints. I trie...
I love my Nook and here is what you get with the customer service. NOTHING> They have the worst customer service on the planet. Barnes and Nobles knows they have a problem with the Nook color charger. It bends and breaks. They have had thousands of complaints. I tried to get a replacement and I got some idiot who did not speak English and asked me to repeat my name 14 tiems. That is great customer service when they don't even speak the same language. I have bought dozens and dozens off books for this Nook but Barnes and Nobles only cares about getting your money. There is zero customer service. I even asked to speak to a manager he refused his name and held the phone and wouldn't answer  questions. I was left with a less than stellar customer service experience but the Better Business Bureau will hear how Barnes and Nobles are selling these Nooks for  hundreds of dollars and refusing to offer any service. I am disgusted with Barnes and Nobles and will never do business with them again.

    New design for the Hd+  is great. while previous design broke mo

    New design for the Hd+  is great. while previous design broke more easily than it should  (I have my original one and it did not break.)  this design for the HD is much better.  the one star reviewer is referring to the older model

    I agree that the Nook Color cable was flimsy at best. However the Nook HD and HD+ cable is better. I have spoken with customer service and they have been very helpful. That was one of the reasons that I chose the Nook over Kindle.You also have the option of going to a Barnes and Nobles for personal assistance..

    The power kit charger for the Nook HD is compact and light and charges my Nook HD very quickly. It will even charge (slowly) when I am streaming a movie. The power kit is often on sale so I bought an extra charger so I always have one with me and one at home. Note: any charger will fail if not used gently. It is important to disconnect the charger by pulling gently on the plug (which has indents for a finger or thumb) and NEVER yanking on the cord itself. I remove the cord from the charger unit when putting it in a bag to make sure that the plug does not get damaged while traveling.

    I was able to receive the product by UPS with no problems at all. The only problem was the package was a little damaged, so I was worried that  the product would have damage also. Opening my package the product wasn't really protected as I hope it would be. The only protection it had was a small air bag. Yes, it provided a little protection, however, the product can still be tossed around in the packaging box. The product itself comes in a small box. No damage and it works perfectly fine. This product's design is well thought out.

    With my Nook Color  that I have had now for 1-1/2 yrs, I have experienced very  few problems rhat someone in Customer Service or at the B  & N desk in store couldn't help me with.  So far, no problems with any issues they have not been able to get solved pretty quickly.kly.                   kp

    I don't understand al the bad reviews about power cables going bad. I own a Nook Color and a Nook HD, and the cables have never given  me any trouble. I think the HD should have a mini USB plug, but that's my only quibble.
    If your Nook Color cord breaks, you can use any mini USB cord to charge it; I use my phone cord when on trips. If the adapter for any Nook breaks, you can plug it into any USB charger (from your phone, or from an after-market company).
    Maybe there was a bad batch of cords?
    I had better luck with the online chat people than with telephone conversations. Emails to tech support have also been very helpful.
