    Frustrating, out of balance book

    I do not recommend this cookbook to anyone. I have tried several recipes and none of them have turned out. The proportions of ingredients are very much out of balance (for example, 6 eggs to 1 cup flour for a cake??!) causing the recipes to end up tasting the wrong way and having the wrong texture. I have had so many frustrations from the wasted time, energy, and ingredients when using this book. The only satisfaction I have received from this book is the exhilaration of throwing the finished product off my deck and into the woods.

    Practical Baking Indead

    I have found this book is quite useful for both the novice and the expert alike. The photos encourage you to try new recipes. Amazing to see when your final product looks exactly like the one in the book. Keeps the kids busy and helps with family bonding.

    This book is excellent. Every item has a photo included to show the finish product. Very easy to bake recipes. I have tried several of the yeast based products and have had excellent results. If you need baking made simple, this is the book for you. 10 ********** for Martha Day

    Best Recipes Ever

    Not only are the recipes easy to follow, and delicious, but the creative ideas the cook will derive from the photographs alone are worth the price of the book! Best Christmas cookies, best pie crust recipes - beautifully decorative and easy to follow instructions.

    Great Help for Beginners

    I have just started baking & I think this book was a great help on my quest. I had made cheesecake last night & I don't know how it could be more beautiful. I was so surprised. I recommend this book to anyone that is beginning to cook because it has great step-by-step photos. That's a great help.

    Great beginners cookbook

    I bought this book mainly for the excellent photos, illustrations and overall content. Wonderful chapters on common ingredients, baking equipment and baking techniques. Each recipe has good photos showing a technique for the item or finished product. I bake alot of breads and have found some new recipes in this cookbook. I highly recommend it.

    Recommended for any cooks library

    504 pages of great recipes, excellent photographs throughout. A chapter on techniques featuring step by step photographs. The book contains recipes for baking cookies, quick breads, pies, tarts, cakes, tortes, low-fat desserts and lots of great bread recipes. There are minor editorial errors which haven't seemed to affect the outcome of the products. I especially liked the Bakng Ingredients, Equipment and Technique pages.

    I owned a bakery for 15 years and own a small but respectable collection of cookbooks from around the world. Love to cook. I bought this book in december and have tried several of the recipes. None of them have turned out succesfully. For example: lemon bars, traditional chocolate cake, some cookie recipes. I think the amount of sugar and grease is unproportional to the flour in the rest of ingredients in some cases. I think they haven't been fully tested.
