The prairie: America's most endangered natural community
I felt that way the first time I stood next to a remnant prairie in central Ohio -- a strip of native wildflowers and grasses sandwiched between a road and a railroad track; saved because mowing it would have been impossible. Later, while on Air Force Reserve duty at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Neb., I had the good fortune to pass by the Willa Cather Memorial Prairie in south-central Nebraska. I've read a lot about the prairie, especially books by Dr. Paul Johnsgard. But this new Pete Dunne title is extraordinary. Great read, especially for conservationists. Was this review helpful?
