Mariette Frederic was born in the 1960s on the Island of Guadeloupe (French West Indies), has nine siblings, and immigrated to the USA in June 1990. She speaks French fluently, as well as Creole. She has been trying her hand at writing since she was eight. At the time of the writing of Pride and Prejudice Surrendered, she was a homemaker, just separated from her husband, and a single mother. As of February 2006, she has been secretary at a non-profit organization and is making a home for herself and her three children in a small town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
