Based on talks the now Cardinal Timothy Dolan gave while rector

Based on talks the now Cardinal Timothy Dolan gave while rector of the North American College in Rome, and thus directed at seminarians, this book would also be excellent reading for all priests, and even lay persons, as it is filled with excellent counsel, which could be adapted to everyone. Cardinal Dolan shares a deep spirituality, and addresses everything from personal development (don't be a slob, or arrogant) to the importance of prayer and humility.

The importance of prayer comes through strongly, as well as living the virtues, from the cardinal virtues of Faith-Hope and Love, to Humility, Fidelity, Obedience, Integrity, Prudence, Penance and Joy, and even addressing the human virtues of Courtesy, Patience, and Simplicity of Life. Cardinal Dolan stresses repeatedly the importance of prayer as the foundation of the virtuous life.

This book would be an excellent gift for a seminarian or priest, and is worthy of consideration as an annual read by anyone striving to live according to the call of the Gospel.
