It was a fun topic 40 years ago

I have to admit, as a kid, I enjoyed the shocking value of Norman books. As an adult, I have to say, I enjoy the overall story, but I really fast forward on the silly exposition bits. The story was silly. The characters were really non engaging. Yet, I had fun reading the book by skimming. The dirty bits are well covered with not engaging in really dirty bits. The overall story was okay but VERY anti climatic.

Overall this book felt like a "trade book". By this I mean that the book is published by the author with limited review. There is something to be said about the big book companies and their editors who review the content and flow of books. This one is really missing that attention to detail. The story jumps from first person to third and back at random. Several points lose track of plot lines and have inserted expositions that do not track well with the ongoing plot. I really wish this book had been reviewed prior to release.

Basically, if you enjoyed Norman 40 years ago, you will enjoy this. Really racy and sexy, the plot goes quickly (assuming you skim the silly narrations about Norman's belief in gender roles). Norman continues to pick silly words for some actions. He uses "reports" for fires when talking about guns. Who says a "gun reports"?

As a prior fan, I am glad I read this. As a modern reader, I am glad it is digital and not sitting in my library as an embarrassment to writing.
