entertaining historical romance

Marianne Cotterwood loathes the aristocracy because of their arrogant way they look down at the masses. Having grown up at an orphan factory, she knows first hand what the pats on the head with the haughty look means. To assist the elite with their alms to the poor, Marianne steals their valueables.
Marianne¿s occupation is interrupted when Lord Justin Lambeth discovers her trying to rob Lord Batterslee. Instead of turning her in, Justin offers her an opportunity to become his mistress. Outraged by his conceit, Marianne vows to destroy her ¿benefactor¿. As the duo plays a game of cat and mouse, they fall in love. However, she is from the wrong side of the tracks (or is she) and neither one trusts the other.
PROMISE ME TOMORROW is an entertaining historical romance that will thrill readers with its battle of the sexes theme. The story line is a lighthearted romp that focuses on the chess match between Justin and Marianne although the tale contains a serious subplot involving the relationship between the wealthy and the poor. The two lead characters are charming and intrepid while the secondary cast provides depth to their war. Candace Camp has written an amusing tale that will please her myriad of fans.
Harriet Klausner
