    Classic Boney

Ive always been a fan of Boney James since his Backbone album. Boney is known for his ear for R&B and soft touch and it shows on this record especially with duos with Bilal and Dwele. The track Stoe groove with Joe Sample is like listening to two genuses at work. espically the piano solo by Joe, which could have been longer, but great nonetheless. This is easily one of Boney's best albums.

    The Posterboy Of Modern Jazz

Boney James is the premier jazz artist of the 21st century and he continues to prove it on this wonderful compilation of his. This CD has close ties to his R&B related inspiration and although Boney James may be one of the best jazz artists of the 21st century (to me, all times) somehow just as the second track on this CD indicates he just keeps "Getting Better With Time." I've purchased each and every one of Boney James's albums (with exception to his Christmas album) and I haven't been diasapointed (not even by a single track) yet. I reccomend that both any and everyone who loves modern jazz (e.g. Kirk Whalum, Dave koz, Kenny G, Peter White, Paul Taylor, Brian Culbertson, Fourplay....the list goes on), purchase and listen to any of his albums and I guarantee that you will truly be impressed. P.S. I'll be purchasing his Christmas album the first day it goes on sale in November.

More on the R&B Side of Jazz

This CD is really is more of along the lines of instrumental r&b than jazz, in my opinion. A lot of the songs on this album tend to have more of an urban sound, with guest artists such as Debbie Nova, Bilal, and Dwele. Compared to his last album, I would say that the sound here is more strongly r&b, whereas the previous album had a lot of other influences such as pop, dance, latin, and reggae. All in all, I would say this is a well done CD. My favorite tracks were Pure, It's On, and Better With Time.
