Nancy Mitford's account of the lives of an aristocratic English family between the two world wars. The novel (almost novelette) comes across almost as an odd combination of a modern Jane Austin (the lives of the rich viewed from the inside) and chick-lit (an easy style, a young girl in pursuit of love, plus a self mocking of some of the emptyness surrounding the wealthy).
