Characters. I didn't like them. Both have strong personalities
Characters. I didn't like them. Both have strong personalities and I could probably be okay with them apart from each other. But, frankly, I didn't like how they treated each other. I didn't like how they didn't talk to each other. I didn't like how one night of sex that Ophelia doesn't remember has them both acting all jealous and in love. I don't get why Boone is so determined to have Ophelia trust him when he kidnapped her. Why should she? But I actually think she does. She's just in denial. That, too, didn't make sense to me.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Story. I didn't get it. The world is confusing. I don't get the different aliens because it's never really explained. I think they're some racism theme going on since the Diviners look human with the their added gift of seeing. But instead of it being racism, it was an alien thing. The story could have easily been done without space being involved but it was thrown in somehow. I had been excited to read a SciFi. It's been a while and I really do love that genre. But I have to admit to seeing some Star Trek and Star Wars in this story and not in a good way. It felt like the story leaned on those stories for world building instead of doing some itself. Sad. And the whole nauseous thing? I saw that coming from the first barf fest.
Writing. I've read this author before. It was a contemporary romance and I adored it. That experience was why I agreed to read this one. And while her writing style is fine, I just didn't enjoy this one. I can't recommend it. But others felt differently.
