Fantastic Tool for Busy Vegetarians!!
These cards are =very= handy for lacto-vegetarians like me: cooking mostly for myself, using Indian, Asian, and Italian flavorings and ingredients. Cards are numbered and color-coded for 'type' of item: appetizer, soup, main, snack, and so on. Based on my review, all recipies are 'ok' for lacto-vegetarians (dairy) and could likely be modified to use soy milk or cheese. No recipie calls for meat, poultry, fish, or eggs. I have tried two so far (#4 and #10) and have found the instructions very concise and helpful, which I find very important when working with ingredients I haven't used before. The substitutions suggestions work well; I couldn't find gai lan for one recipie and successfully used 'regular' broccoli. I would suggest carefully reading the ingredients lists: e.g., 'fried bean curd' means that you should fry up your curd before starting the recipie. The form factor of the cards allow me to sort through them, pull out a couple and take them with me to the grocery store for quantities and ingredients: much easier than a cookbook!Was this review helpful?
