This is not much of a story

I was disappointed with the Quilter's Kitchen. It is basically a recipe book. I need to be very careful with my food intake and these recipes were not ones I could include in my diet. I have read all of the other Elm Creek Quilts novels and have enjoyed them, some more that others. This added little to the on-going story. It was certainly one you could skip.

Should be categorized as a cook book.

This was my least favorite of the Elm Creek Manor series. The book is over 50% recipies. Very quick read.

    Recipes with novel

A disappointing ratio of novel to recipes. Less than half the pages were novel reading. I hadn't expected so many recipes. I am not much of a cook and I do watch my diet. I thought the recipes were full of sugar, butter and cream. I am a retired high school history teacher and now a full time quilter.

    A Disappointment

I have read quite a few of the other Elm Creek Quilters novels by Jennifer Chiaverini and found this one to be a HUGE disappointment. It did not have the depth of the other novels, and was almost like a review of the other stories. The recipes took precedent over the story. If you sold it as a cookbook it would be more realistic and less likely to disappoint the reader. If this had been the first of her books that I had read - I WOULD NOT be going back for more. It is only with having read the first six that I can forgive this one and think about buying the remaining seven.
