Great children's book
I'm a quilter and an avid reader. I give our friends grandchildren baby quilts as gifts and along with each quilt that I make I give them "

THE QUILTMAKER'S GIFT" book. It's a great teaching tool about the rewards of giving not receiving. The quiltmaker in the story only makes and gives quilts to people in need and those who deserve it. But the King wants a quilt...he who has everything. What does the quiltmaker do? Does she give him a quilt? Read this amazing book with phenomenal illustrations (the illustrations alone can tell a story...they are amazing) to your child or have him or her read it themselves to find out what happens with the King. What a lesson it teaches. You cannot imagine how many of these books we have given as gifts. I'm now ready to give the one I'm reviewing as a gift too along with the quilt to our former babysitter who's becoming a grandmother now. Well worth investing in this book. -

A must own for every child
Excellently written, beautifully illustrated story of sharing and caring. A book I have shared with dozens of children. Highly recommend it for every child age 5-95.

Great Lesson on how having stuff doesn't make one happy
I used this with my students. The students got into the book on how the King was selfish and the Quiltmaker kind. It was a great tool to teach children that things do not make us happy. It helped the students see that caring for others and making others happy, makes oneself happy as well. Great book for kids!!

Love this book!
My grandchildren and I love this book! You are drawn in from the first page by the illustrations and flow of the story. As the adult, I love the moral of giving and how it is shown in the story. I first purchased this book when it was published for my then 5 year old grandson. He got it! It has been in our home library since. I also give this book to new grandparents to enjoy with their loved little ones. In short, there is not one thing about this book I find bad or against it; if you purchase this , it will add to hours of close time with your child.

Quilt Makers will love the illustrations and story.
The Quiltmaker's Gift is spellbinding. The quiltmaker is whimsical and friend to all. The illustrations are beautiful. The Quilts on every page and on the inside front and back covers, keep me going back and revisiting this book time and time again. Beautiful colors and quilts make the story fascinating.

Fantastic!
The story is set in a remote kingdom but has implications for today's readers. The illustrations are breathtaking! And the quilts are just beautiful.

Teaching children to share and they don't need material things to make them happy!
This was a wonderful book. I originally checked this out at the library and feel in LOVE with the book. I had to have it for the daycare.

I felt it was a good learning book. Children understand the concept of wanting "everything" and still not finding true happiness. By sharing and giving of themselves they will find happiness by receiving the joy of sharing!
Beautiful pictures! Well told, I cannot say enough about this book! -

This is the GREATEST book ever!
There's a king who demands that the quilt maker make him a quilt. The quilt maker agrees, but first the king has to give away some of the toys that he made. After the king gives away some of the toys, the quilt maker makes him the biggest quilt she has ever made! The king learns that sharing makes people happy.

MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK!!!!!
I love this book! The illustrations are so beautiful, that's what first caught my eye. Once we got it home and started reading it I was amazed to find that the story was just as beautiful. It is a wonderful tale about how rich the rewards of giving can be. What a splendid tool to teach(and remind)us to give.

Every child should be read this book
I've never been compelled to write an online review, but had to make an exception here. This book is one of THE most beautifully written and illustrated children's books I've ever seen. I have an eight year old son and a three year old daughter, and they both never tire of this story. It's moral, heartwarming, funny, charming, inspiring and captivating. It's one of those books that will stand the test of time and be handed down from generation to generation.

Great book
This story is about a quiltmaker who was always up in the mountains sewing. Her work was so wonderful, a greedy king ordered soldiers to get him the quilt. But the quiltmaker would only give her quilts to the poor. She taught the king a very important lesson. Read to find out what it is!

Great quilts, great moral.
I was trying to find children's books with a quilting theme, and this one was my favorite. I appreciate the warmth and beauty of the illustrations. The quilts are beautiful. The message is moving. I read it aloud to a class of third graders and they were captivated by the story.

A must have for every family...
I started reading aloud to my 5 year old daughter when she was an infant, so we've encountered thousands and thousands of books. This book is absolutely cream of the crop; king of the picturebooks. The story is heartwarming and the colors and illustrations are stunning. Every page has a beautiful quilt pattern that reveals what the page is about. The finished quilts presented in the story are absolutely gorgeous. My daughter loves the book, and the lesson behind it. We had to dig her baby quilt out of storge so she could sleep with it the night we first read the book. It's worth every penny. If you are a read-aloud parent or a teacher and you don't have this book, you're missing a great deal!

Supreme Book!
This book is so touching...I am 9 and our school librarian read this to us! Our class was very happy with it. My favorite character was the king because he turned out to be a good man.

Love keeps growing everywhere.
I heard so much about this book on quilting programs that I had to have it. I enjoyed it so much that I bought one for my dear friend Sue. We both appreciate quilts and we are quilter want-a-be's.
