More than just parenting...it's about being a better person

Finally, a parenting book that I read every word of from cover to cover--TWICE. This book may be intended for parents who want to raise happy children, but the ten steps in this book will also raise happy adults. Dr. Carter culls together real science, research, and ancient wisdom without miring us in data and numbers, without guilting us about doing it right and perfectly. Practicing kindness, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness is not just a remedy for children but for all of us. Dr. Carter has done her homework; in fact, she's done all of our homework, and then put together this cheat sheet for the rest of us. A million thank yous.

    Helpful information for PARENTAL Happiness

I'm not a big self-help book fan, but I saw this book advertised recently on tv and thought it sounded worthwhile. The information is motivational for parents, as the author estutely asserts, parents serve their children best if they make themselves happy first. This does not mean popping pills or farming off the kids to child care, just balancing life so that a strong, satisfied parent can be a good role model for their children. Personally, I've struggled with anxiety, being a stay-at-home mom, and it was refreshing to see that even the over-worked, divorced author felt the same way at times. I think the recommendations are useful and practical. Kids need to see their parents happy together and apart. Regardless of one's relationship as parents, it's valuable information organized in a chapter by chapter approach.
