This book had elements that I really liked and some that were over the top for me. The characters are strong, well developed and have fun interactions. Some of the situations were a bit much for me. I enjoyed the theme of protecting those within your care or whom you love as well as strength in character. It takes place in medieval England and Scotland.

Note: Contains 2 moderate sex scenes

    Nail biting Highlander Adventure

I read this in hard cover last year and knew I wanted it on my Nook so I could read it whenever I wanted. The story of the heroine's bravery and of course naiveness kept me turning the pages. I like Julie Garwood as an author and have read a lot her books including the one that precedes this one, The Secret. This one was better though.

A Rollicking, Lusty Highlands Adventure! Loved It!

This was my favorite Garwood book so far... I actually laughed during parts of it and truly enjoyed the story which I'd describe as a rollicking lusty Highlands adventure! The characters were well-developed. Since I'd already read The Secret, which was a book that preceded this tale, I loved reading a bit involving characters from that tale also ...

    Great passionate story.

Julie Garwood makes very interesting characters and I love the wit she gives them. This a very good story, but it still does not top "The Bride" in my opinion. Brodick and Gillian have a great love story. I like also catching up with old friends, Iain and Judith from the story "The Secret". Ramsey and Brigid romance was not as interesting. Overall, a nice read.

    I Also Recommend:

    One of Julie's Best

I thought Julie Garwood's contemporary work was really good. That was until I read her medieval romances. Ransom tops the list. After reading her earlier work I realized how much her writing has slipped. If you want an AMAZING romance novel this is it. Julie Garwood at her best. Her only book to tie is THE BRIDE. The love and the passion was so hot and heavy in this book. This is Julie Garwood in her prime.

    GOOD BOOK

THIS BOOK STARTED OFF SLOW, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BE DISAPPOINTED BY JULIE GARWOOD, BUT I CONTINUED READING.WHEN GILLIAN MET BRODICK THE BOOK PICKED UP AND BECAME A SPLENDID READ.

    Couldn't Put It Down

My Nana got me hooked on Julie Garwood books. This was the first book I ever read from her. I couldn't put it down. Masterfully written.

    Another Winner!

I became totally wrapped up in the story. Jule Garwood has another winner on her hands. It's only my opinion, but I thought it ended a little too soon. Maybe we can encourage Ms. Garwood into doing a sequel. It's a good read and I would highly recommend it.
