I have a problem with this book

Yes it does delve into all the various crazies that call what they do being a Christian. What it doesnt do is talk about the majority of Christians who work hard, DONATE MORE TO CHARITY THAN ANY OTHER GROUP, go to church, pay taxes and live a normal life.

The Book I Wish I Had Written

At the risk of hyperbole, I have trouble saying enough good things about this. Except for the occassional curse word, I think even Christians will enjoy this book as non-Christians because of his even-handed approach. He does not pull any punches on hypocrites and calls out liars as he sees them but there is a underlying respect here woefully under-represented in similar exposes on the subject.
Having grown up right wing, Republican, fundamentalist. evangelical and Christian myself, I thought I knew all about the Cornerstone Festival, purity balls and Christian pop culture in general. Imagine my surprise to discover Christian stand up comics, professional wrestlers and Christian theme parks?!?
I think the book will be even more important now than it was for the Bush/Moral Majority/Christian Coalition years. Case in point: Pastor Rick Warren will speak at Barack Obama's upcoming inaguration. Many atheist and agnostics who voted Democrat as a rejection of Republican theocracy don't even know who he is, even though he is arguably one of the best selling authors of all time.
In short, if you want to understand how the other half lives so to speak, read it. And even if you don't, it will challenge virtually every pre-concieved notion you have about those whose faith differs from yours.
