Read For Pink: Ten Beach Road by Wendy Wax
Chick Lit and Other Fiction picked Ten Beach Road for their book of the month. The theme is Read for Pink is a campaign by Penguin and the National Research Company for Breast Cancer Research.
    Synopsis:
Malcolm Dryer leaves a little something for Madeline, Nicole, and Avery a house in Passe Grille Florida. They had invested money with him and lost everything when he left with their funds. Will they be able to get some money back? What will they decide to do with the property? While ladies have gotten started on the house two new characters make an appearance. Deidre who is Avery’s mother and Kyra who is Madeline’s daughter. Will they help or hurt the efforts on the house?
    My Thoughts:
Many times writers will take ideas for stories from the headlines. This story came from the Ponzi schemes headlines. Malcolm Dryer is the leader of this scheme in the book. While we may have read about this story but what happened to the people who were affected by this scheme?
Ms. Wax answers this question in her book Ten Beach Road. I thought the story was plotted well. I loved the growth of the characters over the length of the novel. I also loved how she seems to keep you guessing as to what will happen next.
I love the fact that Ms. Wax and some other authors books have been chosen for a great cause. The Read for Pink campaign includes many books. Please drop by and check out the other books offered. Also make sure to leave a note for Wendy on Facebook, twitter or her website.
