We use this book in our school with K-2 graders

This is my 3rd year teaching Reading Reflex in an elementary school to kindergarten-2nd grade. It is a wonderful tool! Children are stronger readers after they've been through the lessons. Reading Reflex is very user friendly and works for teaching kids to read and also makes a huge difference for struggling readers. Year after year, I see such great results from this program!

Read and Use this Wonderful Book!

I have read scores of books in search of a sensible and logical method of teaching my two children to read. None has made so much logical sense as this book. It breaks the challenges of learning to read into small, clearly defined and manageble steps. It then lays out a step-by- step method for overcoming these challenges. I am an adult with a great deal of education (Ph.D) and, I thought, a clear understanding of how the English language works. But I learned an enormous amount from this book, and it revolutionized and deepened my understanding of our language and th4e challenges confronting the beginning and even the somewhat advanced reader.

Amazing book that WILL help your child to read!

Both of my children have learned to read using this method. My 9 yr old tested at a 10th grade reading level last year. Although the author does seem to talk down to the parent, it can be overlooked because the information is a Godsend to anyone struggling to teach their child to read.

Excellent resource - very logical and easy to use.

This book is a wonderful resource for homeschooling parents or parents looking to ensure their child has the basics of reading without a lot of fluff. Everything is presented in a clearly logical fashion, step-by-step. It builds to complete reading fluency and children begin to feel they are 'really reading' fairly quickly in the process. It isn't fancy, simple line drawings and no colorful pictures - but it works!

    Frustrated

While giving some helpful pointers, the author takes a somewhat condescending tone towards parents which can be frustrating to read. The exercises are repetitive and not particularly creative. It has not been very helpful in teaching my 4 year old. She is a fast learner but is uninspired by the repetition and lack of pictures or games.

This book gives you some helpful tips that help you to teach students how to read and spell. It offer convenient charts, and step-by step directions on how to break down sounds in a workable system. It has revolutionized my system of teaching spelling.
