Great hits from a great band!

Although many more hits could be added, the cd is very well done and will not dissapoint. Pearl Jam is the greatest band of all time and this album proves it. This cd is a must buy for anyone into grunge music.

    great sounding new classic rock!

I'm basing this review on the first disc only (haven't got to the second one yet) -- something about the sound of the remastering and/or remixing that makes "Alive", "Jeremy" and "Evenflow" sound like you've never heard them before, or at least never this good, makes 'Rearviewmirror' worth the price alone - plus the rest of the tracks on the set which are good picks for a Pearl Jam retrospective. I was one of those fans who at first wasn't crazy about what they did past 'Vitology' then after some years realized after hearing 'Binaural' and 'Yield' that they simply evolved and did music they wanted to, without much concern for sales or popularity. So it's good to have in one place a cross-section of their music, for the die-hards and the fans of 'Ten' and 'Vs' too.

    At Last

Pearl Jam is and will be remembered as one of the greatest rock n roll bands ever. They rank with such notables as Jimi Hendrix, U2, and The Beatles, and their music is timeless, introspective and greatly entertaining. The album does a great job of giving a complete catalogue of their works from their early days up to the present days. Any fan of rock can appreciate this album from this legendary band.

No Suprises--Great Songs From A Great Band

Rearviewmirror is a no-frills greatest hits album. Given the strength of the songs included frills aren't necessary. Other than a few re-mixed versions of some Ten tracks, these are all songs off of the studio albums. So don't get it if you are looking for obscure suprises. Get Lost Dogs (a superb album) for that, and respect Pearl Jam's integrity for not forcing fans to buy the product just to pick up one song. Hard core fans might quibble with some of the choices--I would have liked to see Porch and Release, and fan favorites like In My Tree and Present Tense deserved to be recognized. Likewise Grievance was nominated for a Grammy and no-shows. But a strong case can be made for every song that is included. The tracklisting is interesting and shows the development of the band while maintaining a fairly consistent mood on each disc. In the end you get 30+ of the best songs from the most important band of the 90's. For people who tuned out after Vitalogy and Ticketmaster, it's a chance to relive your old favorites and get reaquainted with a band that never stopped making vital and important music. It's a great gift for people who didn't get the chance to come of age with Ten, and a reminder for everyone why Pearl Jam was the the best band of the 90's (and still matters today).
