    A top pick!

I rarely give five stars to any book as I try to reserve that for truely excellent works - in this case - Newt gets my five star vote! Who can go wrong with a book on the history of D.C, our famous monuments, history and God? It's a combo of America the great in short form. This book was easy to read (finished it in about 2 hours), small and compact for taking with you on trips and just a bundle of great facts at your fingertips. From the National Archives to the Jefferson Memorial to Arlington Cemetery and everything in between - it was the best D.C. has to offer. I have been there many times so, I could follow along easily. Next time I go back, I'll check out some of the small details I've never heard before but, enjoyed finding out. D.C. is a great city with endless potential, opportunity and historic memories. Nothing points out the greatness of this city and our country than The Washington Monument and that the sun rises in the east and hits the aluminum capstone at the top of this site each day to great the world and it says 'Laus Deos' - or 'Praise Be To God'. We all should and I do. This book is a must for anyone who loves this country. God Bless The USA and Newt - he's got a winner here! Only drawback - it was too short and I wanted more!

    In God we Trust

Our founders developed a set of laws and rules that of which was based on the Word of God - and each time we have walked in the opposite path of His Word, America has paid the price. 'In God We Trust' is not just a motto we have on our currency, but it is the foundation that the United States was based. Newt Gingrich has brought these truths in a collection of historical documents, speeches and monuments that clearly define who we are and what we believe if we are true north to our faith. A book that should be read by every student, available in all school and college libraries - yet we never forget.

A MUST READ FOR ANYONE PLANNING A TRIP TO WASHINGTON D.C.

This is an outstanding walking tour of our nation's capitol. Newt provides gem after gem of interesting information that most would never know! Reading this book prior to a trip to Washington D.C. builds excitement for the trip and forces you to see our greatest monuments in a completely different light! Outstanding.

Reaffirming read on God's influence on America

This book gives a wonderful walking tour of the major monuments within the Washington DC area as well as a description of the building of the monument in question and the purpose behind it. But the most important function that this book performs is the fact that it relates the Christian motivation behind these monuments, and the men they commemorate.
While this book did not deepen my faith, it did in fact reinforce my understanding of the foundation of the United States upon God. The fact that this book outlines the many monuments that have deep religious ties to the creation and furtherance of this great country is paramount. While there is a movement in the United States to eradicate all vestiges of the Godly references in all federal and state buildings and other properties, one has to wonder the lengths to which the American populace will allow this movement to progress. Will they be successful in defacing the majority of the monuments and have no outcry of public opposition?
My personal hope and prayer is that the reality of the defacing of the country will be realized by the majority of Americans and it will be put to an end. This book can go a long ways to waking up Americans to the absolute bedrock foundation this country has with God.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in (re)discovering the foundational aspects of the United States!

I am not sure that he read Thomas Jefferson's bible...he needs to see how Jefferson really thought about God!
