I read this book for one of my Political Science courses, and it was the only one that I really enjoyed. I am old enough to remember Nixon's years in Washington, and what Dean's book surprised me on was how much politics impacted every decision that Nixon made. And I think his ideas on Rehnquist are supported with an abundance of information and research. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. John Dean lets everyone behind the closed doors of the Nixon White House. I was completely surpised at the hilarious dealings in Nixon's wierd world of figuring out which man would get his nomination. This is a real eye opener for any who might still believe that Supreme Court Justices really belong on that particular bench. I would suggest that anyone interested in current affairs should buy this book and read it. If there is any doubt about the integrity of Cheif Justice Rehnquist, this book will answer all speculations. It should be assigned to every high school and college political science course immediately. I always had my doubts about the system, and Mr. Dean has affirmed my suspicians 100%!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A Must Read
I bought this book mostly for my husband, who has always been interested in politics. He read it and thought it was REALLY important that I read it, and I am glad he forced it on me. John Dean tells a very compelling story, and it really shook me up that so many less than acceptable routes into the supreme court existed then in the Nixon years which we have to now deal with because of his Mr. Rehnquist, who is now our chief justice. It is really disturbing that so much of how a justice is chosen is strictly political. I really did enjoy reading this book, and I recommend this for all Americans. It really does shed much light on our system and on our current supreme court. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
