Wow! This story slams into pulse pounding suspense and never lets up. Lisa Meador, a widow and single mother, along with her young son, Tyler, are snatched at gunpoint. Lisa’s husband died fighting for his country, and Tyler is all she has left. She’ll do anything to save him.

Retired army ranger Cole Sawyer, plagued by doubt and insecurity after his inability to prevent a suicide bomber from killing innocents in Afghanistan, has finally found his direction. He’s been accepted to train as a U.S. Marshall.

The vicious kidnapper forces Lisa to rob a bank while holding her son hostage. Cole witnesses the attempted robbery and foils it, chasing Lisa out of the bank only to find her frantic as the kidnapper drives off with her son.
Cole is stunned when he recognizes Lisa as the wife of the combat soldier who died last year when Cole didn’t complete his mission. In that moment, whether because of his misplaced guilt, or because of his ranger’s rescue mentality, Cole joins Lisa in a desperate chase to save her child. It quickly becomes evident the villain has an old score to settle with Lisa, and wants her to suffer before she dies.

I couldn’t believe it when, in the midst of all this action, a secondary romance popped up. I love Colleen Thompson’s stories, and once again, I missed sleep because I couldn’t stop reading. Thumbs up on this one.

Relentless Protector is another superior thriller from Colleen Thompson. The story pairs Cole Sawyer, an ex-Army Ranger with a troubled past, and Lisa Meador, a young widow with a child in danger. Lisa doesn’t know the history that brings them together, just that she needs Cole’s help to protect her five-year-old son. Cole is all too aware of the secret that binds him to Lisa while keeping her off limits. The tension never lets up as Cole and Lisa race across Texas to rescue little Tyler from a terrifying fate.

Thompson’s characters are admirable and believable. Cole’s sense of honor drives him to help and protect Lisa no matter what happens, while Lisa will do whatever it takes to save her child. Tyler, the little boy, is a charmer, thoughtful, perceptive, and resourceful. The two sheriff’s deputies who get involved in the mystery behind the kidnapping have their own problems to solve, and they too earn the reader’s empathy.

Relentless Protector is thriller you won’t want to put down until the last page is turned.

In what Colleen Thompson called "her runaway train," "Relentless Protector" gives the reader a ride of their life. This book starts off with a car jacking, a bank robbery and a kidnapping and takes the reader on the bumping ride of a car chase, running to save the life of a 5 year old boy, Tyler and his pal, Octobuddy. Tyler's mom, Lisa Meador has been through a lot after loosing her husband the previous year; she is not willing to loose her son.

Cole Sawyer wasn't sure what was going down when he spotted the scared, wide eyed woman robbing the bank. And he certainly wasn't going to let her get away after shots are fired during the robbery. He knows of Lisa's loss and isn't sure if she's lost her mind or what.

This train ride slows down and let's you get to know Lisa's father, Sid Hartfield and Deputy Jill Keller, but only for a few seconds when it takes off at breakneck speed after the kidnappers sneak a note into a cake delivered to Lisa. The action doesn't stop until Lisa finds Octobuddy lost on the ground with blood on a tentacle. Lisa can't give up now.

Ms. Thompson always promises her readers a heart thumping, thrilling ride and this one is no different. I've never been disappointed and neither will you when you read "Relentless Protector" by Colleen Thompson.
