This was a re-read for me. I read it years ago and decided to buy it again for my Nook and it was well worth the money all over again. It was my first introduction to Agent Pendergast who has since become one of my fav fictional detectives and the first but not the last Preston & Child book I read. Loved it! Great blend of mystery, horror and police procedural. I have read every Pendergast novel since and can't remember ever being disappointed. I would definitely recommend it.

Typo's galore

Though I'm only on pg 98, I still felt compelled to stop & write this review. I suppose this story is good enough, but I am so distracted by the typographical errors which abound that I can hardly focus on the plot. I don't know how such a hot mess made it past any sort...
Though I'm only on pg 98, I still felt compelled to stop & write this review. I suppose this story is good enough, but I am so distracted by the typographical errors which abound that I can hardly focus on the plot. I don't know how such a hot mess made it past any sort of editing standard. My 3rd grader could catch most of this! What a disappointment.

    Jaz

"Huh." Jasmine looked at him, disbelief in her eyes, and began to speak in a calm, steely voice. "My camp has been up and running for close to four months now. Last night, when I got back from my rehearsal, I saw not one, but several ads at my camp. For this camp. So, this morning I came and spoke to Carrie, who said she would try to take care of them. Yet now, after my opening night, I came back to find several more ads at my camp! I am giving you a warning. Ads are not tolerated at Camp Half-Blood. I will not post ads here, as I never want to stoop to that level. However, if I see another ad at borgias, gods help your camp. There are books for advertisements. Camps are not for ads. And if you're trying to "poach" campers or something like that, posting more than twenty ads is not going to make them sympathetic for you. I'm sure that now that you know about this issue, the ads will stop being posted. Otherwise, I won't be able to stop my campers from retaliating."

Not their best work but enjoyable

I have read and enjoyed other Preston and Child novels. The story line of this one did not particularly appeal to me (too "science fiction like" and a little over the top) but, as usual, the characters were well developed and the plot well crafted. I found myself curious to see how it all worked out and, although definitely not a Jurassic Park, I did enjoy it.

    Relic lacks punch

While I was able to enjoyably read Relic, it is little more than a popcorn movie disguised as a book. If you simply seeking an escape, this gruesome romp through the New York Museum of Natural History is perfect. If you are looking for anything more, look elsewhere.

    more from this reviewer

    Relic

Glad i read this one AFTER the Diogenes trilogy or I never would have read any of P.C's...I was bored at times and was a little long winded but i guess the rest of their novels spoiled me..
