John Kiriakou and this book are the real deal.

John has written a wonderful and insightful book detailing his life during his CIA years. I know that this book would have been much better and I would have given it a 5 star rating if the CIA would have let the author tell the whole story instead of making him continuely revise it.

So interesting-a different look at the CIA

The Reluctant Spy offers a different view on the timely yet timeless topic of spying. John Kiriakou's account of a life an operative in the CIA was eye-opening, honest, and oh so interesting. Readers will get a different look at the life of a spy--the personal impact, the inter-office politics, the grey areas of day-to-day decision-making. Be prepared for a quick read that may make you think twice about some of your assumptions, and a view that will lead you to appreciate folks who give up so much for their country.

don't waste your time or money!

This is the poorest excuse for a book I've seen in a long time. The writing is amateurish, and it is pretty interesting that every tale told ends up making the author into some kind of super-hero. Come on! I did force myself to read the whole book, which wasn't easy. In several sections, including those which reference his ex-wife and a boss in NYC, the narrative tone is whining and self-serving. Really, this comes across as a hastily written attempt at a screenplay. Disappointing.
