I read the first two books and skimmed the third. The first one

I read the first two books and skimmed the third. The first one I would have given 3.5 stars to, the second, about 2 stars to, and the third I wouldn't have rated at all. I didn't hate this series, but I definitely didn't love it either.

The first book was pretty good. I liked the story. This was my first "beyond the grave" type book, so in that regard, it was new and interesting for me. It was definitely not as dark or revengeful as I was expecting and hoping for. It focused on sex far more than I would have liked to see in a YA novel. The second book was really different from the first one, and it was kind of bland. It also had a strong focus on sex. It also focused on the spiritual. It was a weird combination, and not one that really worked. It had some really great quotes about life and happiness, and then it had parts that were really crass and crude. The third book was so far removed from the original story that I couldn't bring myself to really read it like I normally would, so I don't have much comment on that one.

One of my biggest pet peeves in books are typos and misspelled words. I couldn't believe how many typos there were in this book! And I read a finished copy, not an ARC.

Overall, I'd say if you have lots of time and nothing else to read, give this a shot. You might like it more than I did. Otherwise, give this one a pass and read one of the author's other books. He's written quite a few.

Content: Focus on sex. Language, violence
