Review originally posted at Romancing the Book

I have to say, this series is just getting better as it goes along. If you read my review of Hell on Wheels, while I liked the book, there was too much set up and not enough romance. In the book, In Rides Trouble, I think Ms Walker was finally coming into her own with this series by crafting a solid, entertaining read. But with Rev It Up, I couldn’t put the book down.

From page one, I was drawn into this story. Ms. Walker has a way of describing the action (and what action it is!) that made me feel like I was right in the middle of all that was going on. From the flashbacks to Jake’s time in the war in the Middle East, to being in the mind of a revengeful stalker, I found myself there… and it didn’t end until the last page. And those pages kept turning because I just had to know what was going to happen next. Were they going to find the stalker before someone else suffered? Was Jake going to finally win Michelle’s heart?

There were so many twists and turns and a secondary plot (featuring Rock & Vanessa whom get the next book in the series) that I was very much entertained. I’ll admit that I guessed the bombshell that was dropped well before it was revealed, but Ms Walker’s handling of it was well done. I enjoyed the well-developed romance, loving it as Jake wears his heart on his sleeve and continuously breaks down Michelle’s fortified walls. I came away from this book with just a smidgen of a crush on Jake.

If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, I highly recommend this series and I can’t wait for the next one!

When a madman starts targeting the Black Knights loved ones in order to get back for the death of his brother, Jake becomes Michelle's body guard. They had a past which of course ended badly and even though Jake is ready to lay it all out there for Michelle, she isn't very forgiving on the way Jake ended things.

Since the last book ended with Jake storming in demanding to see Michelle, I knew their story was next. I didn't know anything about these two characters, so I was looking forward to starting fresh. Granted, you can't start the series with this book since there is a lot that happens that you need to have read the books in order but it was nice to not have a preconceived idea of what these characters are like.

The story starts off in the past. The night when everything went bad and Jake drew into himself and took off. As the story progresses we find out more and more about Michelle and Jake's rocky relationship prior to him leaving and the events that followed. I think getting a back story really helped understand where the characters were coming from a bit more.

I'm still a big fan of how the author weaves multiple stories and point of view's into one novel. We get the main characters, the villain, and upcoming headliners in one sitting. So we don't follow the same two people around the entire time.

My only complaint was Jake. The extensive use of what I guess is surfer terminology really pulled me away from him. After reading "Yo" 3 times in a paragraph, I just wanted to hit him. I wouldn't mind if his "surfer slang" popped out here and there but it seemed a bit excessive at times and made it seem like the author was trying too hard to keep the surfer vibe alive. Aside from that though, I thought the story was great. I liked the suspense in this one a lot more than the last book and I also liked the big surprise moment in the story as well. I can't wait to read more of the series.

4.25 stars:  REV IT UP is the third instalment in Julie Ann Walk

4.25 stars:  REV IT UP is the third instalment in Julie Ann Walker’s adult, contemporary, romantic Black Knights Inc action/suspense series focusing on a tight knit group of former Navy SEALs, Special Ops and ex-military men. This is Jake and Michelle’s storyline. Michelle is Frank Knight’s sister and the woman that Jake pushed away four years earlier.
The focus of the storyline is Jake’s return to civilian duty and his need for the woman he left behind. But many things have changed since Jake walked away and it will be an uphill and dangerous battle trying to convince Michelle that she is the only woman he has ever loved.
Julie Ann Walker pulls the reader into a story of second chances and forgiveness. Jake and Michelle have both made mistakes but when the Black Knights are targeted for extermination, the collateral damage will affect everyone including the people that they love.
The relationship between our leading couple is tense and full of what ifs and whys. Questions need to be answered; sins needs to be forgiven; and the truth must be revealed before anyone is able to move on. The sex scenes are steamy, seductive and fuel the imagination.
REV IT UP is an exciting story where secrets fuel the suspense; where revenge is only a moment away; and where family is everything. The plot is well paced; the secondary characters bring a semblance of familiarity to the storyline; the writing style is evenly paced, evenly balanced and welcoming. Julie Ann Walker adds another dimension into the Black Knights family-a family that begins to grow one generation at a time.

Jacob (Jake) "The Snake" Sommers walked away from the only woman he ever loved Michelle (Shell) Knight Carter four years ago and regretted it ever since. Jake is finally ready to be state side and wants to win Shell back no matter what. Jake has been offered a job at Black Knights Inc gives him all the motivation he needs. When The Black Knights are threaten with assassination by mob boss. All Knights do everything in their power to protect themselves and their families. Jake sees this as an opportunity to prove Shell that he's a changed man. Shell gets weak kneed and wobbly around Jake but he broke her heart. She won't let Jake back in her life that easily. Will the mob boss be caught? Can Jake win Shell's heart again? Will Shell admit her feelings? Your answers await you in Rev It Up.

I'm coming to find that I'm never disappointed with this series so far. Ms. Walker continually keeps the story fresh, exciting, mysterious, and incredibly hot. Our hero Jake is broken down SEAL that needs TLC from the only woman he wants Shell. Shell has built walls around her life to protect herself and her son Franklin. I'm anxious to see where this series goes. Ms. Walker is definitely on my must buy/read list. Looking forward to my next adventure in reading.

    Great read

This book was fun and exciting as the first two. I love these men and the love they have for the women. Who doesn't love the kick butt take names later men. Shell and Jake's past comes to a head while fighting off assassins. Julie Ann Walker is a great writer and I can not wait for the next book.

    Great and Fun Read!

As usual, the Author presents a GREAT story! Her character's inner monlogues just have you cracking up and then laughing out loud hysterically. I even love her very predictable happy endings, but sometimes you just need that! Great series, look forward to her next one!

    I Also Recommend:

Love It ~~ Can't Wait For More ~~

Thanks to the publisher, Sourcebooks, and NetGalley for the chance to read Rev It Up early!

This is the third book in a romantic suspense military trilogy by Julie Ann Walker releasing October 2012.

I felt like I turned on the television in the middle of an awesome movie…with that said I recommend starting at the beginning; with Hell on Wheels. The author did an excellent job of reintroducing the characters to me; allowing me to gain an understanding of the existing relationships.

This was a very enjoyable book. The suspense portion made/kept the book interesting and fast moving. The book was ninety percent suspense, ten percent romance but, every bit adventurous.

This is very similar to Jaci Burton’s Wild Riders series.
